My home country, Philippines declared a national state of emergency following the recent typhoon, which was considered the strongest typhoon in the world. Millions were left homeless, and without a family.

Help started pouring from other countries, which was really amazing.

Today, allow me to share some inspiring stories of heroism from children around the world.

TOKYO-Thousands of miles in terms of distance certainly was not enough to keep six-year old Shoichi Kondoh from feeling compassion for Filipinos, not thinking twice about giving away his painstakingly saved-up piggyback savings as part of the ever-growing international relief aid.

Accompanied by his mother, Miho Kondoh, Shoichi visited the Philippine Embassy in Japan to hand over JPY 5,000. Shoichi said he was moved to donate his savings  after witnessing the extent of destruction the Philippines experienced from Super Typhoon Yolanda on television.

Consul Dexter Lao expressed the embassy’s gratitude for the sincere gesture of kindness and sympathy from the boy, now the embassy’s youngest donor. (taken from Philippine Star)

He was within the vicinity in one of a Yolanda donation drop-off station where he generously donated his widow’s mite of 2 pesos.  Maraming maraming salamat Benjie! (from FB page of Mae Paner)

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty.

Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them.

Love is a fruit in season at all times and within reach of every hand.

Inspirational Children

Dad shared with me some pictures he got from Facebook. His way of saying that life is not at all about ourselves only. It is also about the world around us.

604024_515487228461442_551409070_n  A boy shares his bottled water with a beggar.

wpid-facebook_-1038180643A boy tries to live normally eventhough he has no arms.

wpid-facebook_567098666A girl tries to save her puppy from floods.

wpid-facebook_-2041835766A girl takes care of her younger brother while in school, because her mother needs to work.

Yes, we can do it,

by simply looking outside ourselves.

This post is dedicated to Tatay Rene, my grandfather who’s celebrating his 70th birthday today, but has already left us to be with the Lord 2 years back.

He has the biggest heart.

My Dad shared some pics he got from Facebook…

Sometimes, we take for granted how blessed we are, without realizing that others are less fortunate.

These pictures make me realize how lucky I am as a child. I am complete. I am healthy. I have loving parents who continue to provide me with all the things I need to grow.

And I’d like to thank this children for showing the whole world that life is not about what you don’t have. It’s about appreciating what you have, and striving for the best, no matter how high the hurdles are.

Hats off for this 3 young inspirations. I pray that you reach your dreams.
