Yesterday, we visited AL AIN ZOO again. This was my third visit 🙂

Al Ain Zoo (Arabic: ‎حديقة حيوانات العين ) is a 400-hectare (990-acre) zoo located in the foothills of the Jebel Hafeet Mountains in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It has a large animal collection of over 4,000 animals (186 species).

IMG_7227IMG_7226AFRICAN WILD DOGS have rounded large ears they differ from other canid species in that they have only 4, rather than 5 toes on their front feet.

Birds.

IMG_7271CARACAL’s ears are large and pointed with long erect tufts of hair on the tips.

IMG_7282This is a HIPPOPOTAMUS, but he’s too shy to show his face 🙂  He is recognizable by his barrel-shaped torso, enormous mouth and teeth, nearly hairless body, stubby legs and tremendous size. It is the third largest land mammal by weight, after the White Rhinoceros and Elephant.

IMG_7231PATAS MONKEYS run on all fours (arms and feet), instead of swinging from trees for locomotion. They run fast – up to 55kph

IMG_7235VERVET MONKEYS are the most widely-used primates in medical research. This is because they are small, easily handled, not endangered and easy to breed in captivity.

HOUSE OF REPTILES

IMG_7221WHITE TIGERS exist only in captivity.

The Al Ain Zoo hosts the almost extinct WHITE LION (less than 200 remain in the world)

My parents, Ninang Abel and I went to the zoo! This was my first zoo visit.

Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort/ Al Ain Zoo is a 400-hectare (988-acre) zoo located in the foothills of the Jebel Hafeet Mountains in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It mainly comprises Arabian antelopes and oryx , eland , gazelle, lechwe and can be found in the tree shaded paddocks which offer excellent breeding conditions.

The zoo features a big cat house. Lions, pumas, black and spotted leopards and jaguars are found here. In addition to this, it also has a reptile house, monkey compounds, aquarium and aviary. (Wikipedia)

The last part of our trip was the “Bird Show”. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take good photographs of the eagles and falcons as they flew really fast.

I hope to be back soon!
