Today is the last day for the year 2011. It was a year full of blessings and surprises, but also there were low times. Allow me to share with you my last glimpse of the year that was. Here’s my 2011 highlights.

January-February. My year opened with so much blessings. I received so many toys. I had my first bike. I had my first cinema watch.

March – HILI FUN CITY – My family visited a theme park located in our city – Hili Fun City. FIRST TRY AT SCHOOLING. My parents enrolled me at Golden Bell Nursery for the first time. Unfortunately, it seemed I didn’t like the school. I threw my tantrums every morning before going to school, until I eventually got sick and my parents decided to stop sending me to school.

May – FIRST BEACH EXPERIENCE. We had a dip at the Corniche in Abu Dhabi and savored the delicious dishes at the rotating restaurant in Marina Mall.

June to July – VACATION! My parents and I flew to the Philippines for a month-long vacation. I was able to mingle with my relatives and I got to visit different places, including a trip to Boracay beach!

July 19 – 3RD BDAY! I celebrated my 3rd birthday at Jollibee Kiddie Land in Balagtas, Bulacan. It was well-attended by my relatives and friends!

August 23 – LOLO RENE, my grandfather, passed away. My family went for an emergency trip back to the Philippines to give our last respect to my Dad’s father.

October – NEW SCHOOL! My parents enrolled me in a new school and this time, I enjoyed coming to school. Every morning, I looked forward to riding the school bus to bring me to school. I enjoy learning new things and playing with my classmates.

November – YAS ISLAND. We had a trip to Yas Island, home of Yas Marina Circuit, where I get to watch real racing cars in action. We also visited Ferrari World, and stayed overnight at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

December – SICK. I was sick during the first week of the month. I was having high fever and my runny nose did not stop. I was consulted to the doctor. PARTIES. I attended so many Christmas and birthday parties! I received so many gifts too.

4th and 5th Day in School

The last two days of the week were much better than the first 3 days. It was still difficult to prepare me for school in the morning, but just a few whining, but none of the crying. There were no more promising to go to the mall. I guess, I was getting used to the routine.

Bringing me up the bus was easier now. Before, I usually showed hesitancy to climb the bus. But now, it felt alright. I could wave goodbye to my parents before the bus leaves.

The 5th day is P.E. day so we have to wear our P.E. uniform.

First Day of School

The first day of school went well. Mom prepared me for school. I had a nice breakfast, and she gave me a warm bath. She helped me wear my uniform. She also had my bag ready with the stuff I’ll need for the day – some food, milo and juice. To be honest, I didn’t have any idea where we were going. What I only knew was that we’re going out, and that’s something I always enjoy.

We went down the building to wait for my ride. Just a few minutes later, we saw Dad arriving from work. He came from a night shift. He was so glad to catch me before I left.

When the school bus came, my parents helped me get up the bus. I was so surprised that Mom and Dad did not come with me inside the bus. That was the first time I was riding a bus without them. The bus door closed, and they waved goodbye to me. I just mumbled an automatic reply – “bye…”. And the bus left. I looked around and found other kids around me. Their faces look the same – they were all in the verge of crying.

When we reached school, I cried big time. The other kids were doing the same. The first day was surely difficult as expected. No parents around. I guess our parents wanted us to learn to be independent.

I became better when we started our activities. We played and we watched cartoons. The time came for us to go home. We were assisted to the school bus, and all of us were brought back to our families.

When I stepped down the schoolbus in front of our building, I found Mom patiently waiting for me. I was just so glad to be back in her arms. And I’m glad to have a very supportive mom, who has 100% of her time for me :)

And guess what… Dad seemed to be more anxious than me. Proof? He posted this on Facebook after I left for school in the morning….

The Story of My Return

My 15th plane ride was the flight going back to Abu Dhabi after an emergency leave due to Tatay’s untimely passing. This was also my 8th airplane ride for 2011 alone. It was one of my most uncomfortable flight.

Before we left Manila, I was already having slight fever. My parents gave me paracetamol before the flight and that made me feel better for a while. But during the flight, my parents started to feel that I was having some temperature again, and this time it was high. I was scorching hot.

My parents thought that I could have gotten Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, which was rampant in the Philippines. The stewardess was kind enough to offer the onboard medicines, but they were for small babies.

Luckily, we made it home to Al Ain without anything major happening. I was immediately made to drink paracetamol, and my fever subsided. The following day, I was much better.
